Hello, 2021! We’re ready for the new year! We’re a new, upscale boutique law office in North Pole seeking an independent, highly organized, super motivated self-starter to join our growing team in 2021 as a part-time paralegal / legal assistant. This position cannot be performed remotely. You’ll need strong oral and written communications skills and a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite applications. To keep track of clients and your time, you’ll learn how to use our online database application. Prior law office experience is a plus. If you’re fluent in a foreign language, that will be a bonus for our immigration law practice. This opportunity is anticipated to grow into a full-time position within the next 6-12 months. Training and mentoring will be provided for the right candidate who may be lacking in some of the requisite skill sets. The duties primarily will involve providing legal support to attorneys in the areas of bankruptcy law, immigration law, public benefits (e.g., federal Social Security disability), real estate, and litigation support. Some secondary duties will involve helping maintain the firm’s social media platforms, website, and other internet marketing sites. There will be opportunities to perform legal research assignments involving federal and state legislative, administrative, and judicial decisions, opinions, determinations, and rulings. An Alaska Notary Public commission is required after hire with expenses paid by the firm. As a paraprofessional, typical duties are as follows: Prepares and finalizes legal documents and exhibits, correspondence, and internal memoranda; with attorneys, attends and provides written record of client meetings, conferences, court and administrative agency hearings; files pleadings with state and federal courts and administrative agencies; records documents in person and online with Alaska DNR; updates and helps manage the firm’s social media platforms, website, and internet marketing sites. You’ll need to provide back-up administrative support to the office administrator, where required. Other relevant duties are as assigned. This position is fairly flexible. The estimated hours starting out are 2-3 per day/10-15 hours per week. The schedule is primarily in the afternoons. Days and hours are flexible and negotiable, and we will work around school and other work schedules.
